Constituency

Welcome to the Gordon Banks MP constituency information page. Please find a map of the constituency below.

The Clackmannanshire part of the constituency has its traditions in manufacture of paper, brewing, distilling, coalmining and wool. Times have changed however and now the county is fighting back from the years of neglect. The reintroduction of the rail link to Alloa, the new community hospital in Sauchie, the new bridge over the Forth, the opening of Asda and three new secondary schools is evidence of a commitment to Clackmannanshire. It will be possible to build on the business base we have at present in the county, as Clackmannanshire will become a more attractive proposition. Clackmannanshire has areas of real beauty and tranquillity such as Ochil Hills and is an beautiful place to live.

In Kinross-shire, a new secondary school and health centre are very important to Kinross and surrounding villages as indeed is the ability to maintain the current level of business and retail facilities and the challenge of council funded recreation amenities.

South Perthshire is a large geographical area and has a number of very important employers such as Highland Spring, DARA, Gleneagles Hotel and Crieff Hydro amongst others. There is a significant tourist industry in the area which is very important to the local economy and the area is one of immense natural beauty. The new Community School of Auchterarder and the proposed new secondary school in Crieff are important in raising educational achievements and challenges. The hoped for refurbishment of Aytoun Hall is also an important factor in raising the quality of life in this rural area.
