Westminster’s new Land Maintenance Group takes it’s first evidence session

9 May 2008

Local MP, and Secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Group, Gordon Banks took part in the group’s first evidence session in the House of Commons as investigations begin into regulation and delivery in the Land Maintenance Industry.  The group took evidence from Menstrie resident, Mike Marriott who has a long running dispute with Land Maintenance Company, Greenbelt.  The Group also heard from Patricia Ferguson MSP who is currently progressing a Factoring Bill through the Scottish Parliament.

Mr Banks said – “I felt the first session was very productive.  Although I have been working with Mike and fellow residents in Menstrie for some time, I’m sure my colleagues found it very useful to hear of his first hand experiences.  It is vital that we hear all points of view, be it from residents, interest groups and the industry before we publish our detailed investigation document.”

“The Group is also scheduled to hold further evidence sessions in May and June, where we hope to hear from the Law Society, Housebuilders, Factors, COSLA, Local Government Association and representatives of Land Maintenance Companies.”
